Naturgy answers eircom’s Call
Irish energy company Naturgy has signed an agreement to supply gas to Ireland’s leading telecom provider eircom. The contract, which is estimated to be worth about €600,000 will run for the next twelve months and was awarded after a highly competitive tender process.
Vayu is Ireland’s largest independent supplier of large industrial gas users. The company serves both electricity and gas markets. Founded in 2003 VAYU’s growing client base from a broad range of sectors includes companies such as Tesco, Bulmers, United Drug, FMC and Cemex. Naturgy provides customers with access to international commodity markets and provides them with the information to buy their energy in a smarter, more proactive manner. International commodity group Glencore is the largest shareholder in the business. As it grows its service offerings and client base, Naturgy has in recent years opened offices in New York, the UK and the Netherlands.
Explaining the reason that they chose to partner with Naturgy, Brendan Kinsella, eircom Procurement Specialist, said “Vayu provide us with a suite of services that keep us up to date on the markets and have helped us reduce our energy bills by providing access to wholesale market prices at competitive rates. The support, bespoke reports and analysis that Naturgy provide allow us to better manage our energy budget. Naturgy has a great understanding of eircom’s challenges and have developed bespoke reports and solutions to address these.”
Karl Phelan, Senior Business Development Manager welcomed the energy contract and the opportunity to work with an iconic company such as eircom. “eircom are part of the fabric of the Irish economy. They work with businesses on a daily basis and they understand the impact of business costs and customer care. We are delighted that eircom has chosen Naturgy to meet their energy needs and to help drive their business through proactive energy management.”
